Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman has officially been banned in the country of Lebanon, due to star Gal Gadot hailing from Israel, with whom Lebanon is at war. The film had already gone through Lebanon’s censorship process, but was then banned by the six-member committee of the Ministry of Economy. The ban comes as a bit of a surprise, as previous films featuring Gadot, including Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, and Batman v. Superman, all played in the country.
The Campaign to Boycott Supporters of Israel’s Facebook page hints that the reasoning has to due the fact that Gadot was an Israeli soldier in the army, and had praised Israel’s military actions during the 2014 war in Gaza.
