William Shatner Beams Down to Niagara Falls

One of the biggest name in pop culture history will beam down to Niagara Falls next June. William Shatner has been confirmed as a celebrity guest at next year’s fourth annual Niagara Falls Comic Con taking place over three days, an Film Dumpster will be there to cover it.

“If you asked me four years ago when we would welcome William Shatner as a celebrity guest, I probably would have said maybe six or seven years down the road, maybe even 10, so we’re especially excited that we’re able to bring one of the biggest names in pop culture history to the event after only four,” said Chris Dabrowski, Co-owner and Show Manager for NFCC.

Shatner is best known for his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk, of the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek television series from 1966-1969, as well as the subsequent animated series and films. He continued on with the role of Captain Kirk for a total of seven Star Trek films, ending with Kirk’s death in the film Star Trek Generations.

Throughout his career, he has won many awards and has earned five Saturn nominations for Best Actor: the first for Kingdom of the Spiders, the four other for the first four Star Trek films. He won the award for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn, and also earned The Life Career Award in 1980. He won his first Emmy Award for his role as Denny Crane on The Practice, and in 2005, he won his first Golden Globe award and a second Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on Boston Legal.

“There’s no other name more synonymous with pop culture than William Shatner, so for us to secure him at NFCC really puts this event on the map in terms of Comic Con’s in North America. He’s a cultural icon. It doesn’t get any bigger than this,” added Dabrowsk.

The Con has also announced Peter “Chewbacca” Mayhew,” Ghostbusters'” Ernie Hudson, Giancarlo Esposito, best known for his role as Gustavo “Gus” Fring in the AMC series Breaking Bad; Dean Cain, best known for his portrayal as Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman; Alan Ruck, who played Cameron Frye in the 80s cult classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (also starred in Spin City), as well as the announced return of Jason David Frank, best known for his role as the “Green Ranger” Tommy Oliver in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers; The Cast of the AMC Series Comic Book Men, and Bob Dermer, who played “Sam Crenshaw” on the Canadian Children’s TV Series Today’s Special. Legendary Horror Icon Tony Todd, best known as “Candyman” has also been confirmed for the event. Luke Perry and Jason Priestley from Beverly Hills 90210 were also announced.
