Paramount Pictures has announced that they will be remaking the Steve Martin/John Candy comedy classic “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” with Will Smith & Kevin Hart starring. The original, directed by John Hughes, was as cross-country adventure with Martin as a high-strung marketing executive and Candy as a good hearted but annoying shower curtain ring salesman who are trying to get home to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving.
The film will be written by Aeysha Carr, whose credits include “Brooklyn 99” and the upcoming Hulu series “Woke.” While “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” is a fantastic film and ranks as one of the last film that needs a remake, Smith and Hart are perfect to star in one, and with the right script, it could work.
