Warner Bros. is developing a Wile E. Coyote film titled “Coyote Vs. Acme” with LEGO Movie director Chris McKay set to produce. The film will be written by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia writers Jon and Josh Silberman.
Wile E. Coyote was created by the legendary animator Chuck Jones, and he made his debut in the 1949 short “Fast and Furry-ous,” trying to catch the elusive Road Runner (SPOILER: he does not). 49 cartoons have been made featuring these characters (including the four CGI shorts), the majority by Chuck Jones. Though Wile E. doesn’t speak in the Road Runner shorts (except 1962’s Adventures of the Road Runner), he does in the few in which he starred with Bugs Bunny. Operation: Rabbit, To Hare Is Human, Rabbit’s Feat, and Compressed Hare, voiced by the amazing Mel Blanc.
