What’s interesting about this weekend’s box office is that with the exception MI5 and Straight Outta Compton, most of the films are under the radar films, including the Spanish language animated film Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos (A Rooster with Many Eggs, or something of the like). It says a lot about the timing of these films, nestled between the end of the summer blockbuster and Oscar seasons. Also of note is that four of the ten are geared at minority audiences (The Perfect Guy, War Room, Straight Outta Compton, and Un Gallo con Muchos Huevos). It would seem the studios have figured out the sweet spot as far as what time of the year to release these films. They tend to get a little more breathing room, and have a better chance of their audiences finding them.
