Weekend Box Office Report Jan. 1st – 3rd

The first weekend of 2016 has come and gone and the box office hit was the same as it has been since Christmas it all about Star Wars The Force Awakens.  The box office record breaker stayed at the number one spot with ease, taking in another $88,300,000. bringing it domestic total to over $740,000,000.  It will easily break the billion dollar mark by the end of next weekend and that’s just here in the good ‘ol US of A.  Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight got a wide release this past weekend and landed in the third spot with $16,240,000 and Daddy’s Home stayed at number two for the second week in a row brining in $29,000,000.  OVerall a solid week at the box office.  The only question is what movie will it be that comes out in the next few weeks that will actually push Star Wars out of the top slot.
