As the Summer movie season comes to a close (it pretty much has) the studios toss their misfits into August. Three movies opened this weekend and one of them didn’t even break the top five. American Ultra opened this weekend at number 6. For a movie that boasted the biggest cast of the three new movies and a fairly funny premise it did not do well at all, maybe that’s because nobody wanted to shell out money to see Kristen Stewart and Jessie Eisenberg as stoner action heros. Sinister 2 and Hitman: Agent 47 opened at spots three and four respectively. But it’s F. Gary Gray’s Straight Outta Compton that held the number one spot, bringing in another $27,000,000. The New Mission Impossible held on at number 2 again this week. Better get out there and scope what summer flicks are still playing in theaters because the onslaught of Fall films are about to start rolling in (we aren’t to upset about that, little variety).
