So the weekend ushered in a couple major openings: Mad Max Fury Road and Pitch Perfect 2. The critical buzz and sheer awesomeness of its trailers and word of mouth assured Mad MAx the top seed? Nope. The new Pitch Perfect took the top spot bringing in a solid $69,000,000 for the three days. Apparently the PG-13 rating and the Glee crowd gave it some serious legs. Mad Max took the second spot with a little over $45,000,000. It may not have been the opening Warner Brothers was hoping for, but an R rating I’m sure had a hand in that. Needless to say it should carry some weight over the next few weeks. Avengers had another solid weekend coming in third with a near $39,000,000, and bringing its total to a whopping $372,000,000.
