The long awaited sequel to the classic sci-fi film Blade Runner will finally see the light of day next year. However, for those hoping to see a lot of Harrison Ford’s Deckard may be disappointed. In a recent interview with Fandango, Blade Runner 2049 costar Ryan Gosling had this to say about the film’s shooting schedule.
“I can say that we shot for many months before Harrison [Ford] arrived, and obviously there was a lot of anticipation as to when he would show up and how that would be, and it was just a relief. The second he got to set, he just rolled up his sleeves and we all just got to work. It was a real great pleasure to get to work with him.”
While we’ve known that the torch was being passed from Ford to Gosling, it sounds as if Ford’s involvement might be minimal (unlike his return to the Star Wars franchise, in which Ford insisted that Han Solo be one of the main focuses of The Force Awakens). That’s not to say Ford didn’t continue to film after Gosling was done shooting his part, which is possible. We’ll know for sure when Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6, 2017.
