According to the THR, the Brothers Warner is thinking about rebooting the brothers Wachowski sisters Wachowski modern classic sci-fi trilogy The Matrix. The studio is considering exploring various aspects of the Matrix world ala the Star Wars spinoffs like Rogue One. Star Keanu Reeves recently commented to Yahoo Movies on returning to the franchise:
“They [Wachowskis] would have to write it and direct it. And then we’d see what the story is, but yeah, I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not?”
The original Matrix has already spawned two successful sequels (in box office, not necessarily in quality), an animated spinoff called The Animatrix, three video games (Enter the Matrix, The Matrix Online and The Path of Neo), and a comic series called The Matrix Comics.
