The Sorceress and Fisto Have Been Cast in ‘Masters of the Universe’

Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson has been cast as Malcolm/Fisto and Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress in Travis Knight’s live-action Masters of the Universe film from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel.

In the screenplay by Chris Buttler, with a first draft by David Callaham, the pair joins Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops. Aaron and Adam Nee also appear in the film.

Details of the Escape Artists and Mattel Films production’s plot are being kept under wraps. Skeletor, Hordak, and the Snake Men repeatedly attack Castle Grayskull in the 1980s toy line and early 1980s television series because they think the secrets within will enable them to take over Eternia and the entire universe and become the Masters of the Universe.

The Sorceress keeps watch over Castle Grayskull, protecting its wisdom and mysteries. In the previous canon of Masters of the Universe, she is also Teela’s mother. She is a very strong force that can only be used while imprisoned in the castle. She transforms into the falcon Zoar outside of Grayskull, who uses telepathy to speak with close pals.
Like He-Man, Fisto is very muscular. Skeletor names the man the forest’s ruler; he starts out as a villain before turning into a hero. Fisto’s enormous, armored fist is the source of his moniker. He has an Arachna as a pet and is skilled at trapping and teaching wild creatures.

Baccarin starred in the sci-fi thriller Elevation and Millers in Marriage, directed by Edward Burns. Deadpool, Deadpool & Wolverine, Fast Charlie, The Good House, and Ode to Joy are among the other movie credits. Television credits include Joss Whedon’s Firefly, Fox’s Gotham, ABC’s V, The Mentalist, and Homeland, for which she received an Emmy nomination. Her next project for Amazon MGM Studios is The Wrecking Crew, in which she will co-star with Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista.

This weekend, Jóhannesson will play Copperhead in the Marvel Studios film Captain America: Brave New World. Other film credits include Sony’s Bloodshot, Albert Hughes’ Alpha, the independent film Zone 414, and Paramount’s Infinite. On television, Jóhannesson has been in the films Succession, Those About to Die, Vikings: Valhalla, The Witcher, Netflix’s The Last Kingdom, and Game of Thrones.
