The Lonely Island, the comedy musical group consisting of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccon, were asked to write a song for the Academy Awards, but it was it wasn’t chosen because it was “financially and logistically impossible,” The song, called Why Not Me?, would have been “a fully shot, star-studded music video of exorbitant cost” featuring actors questioning why they weren’t nominated. You can understand why it was cut, but it would have been fun to watch, and likely the highlight of the show (outside of Frances McDormand’s Acceptance speech).
