In a recent interview with Collider both the star of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds and director Tim Miller were asked about the character’s sexuality:
“Pansexual! I want that quoted,”…“Pansexual Deadpool.”
Ryan Reynolds went on to elaborate:
“There is some sexuality in this movie for sure. You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, ‘This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?’ But so far so good. Studio hasn’t crushed us with anything.”
It isn’t any surprise that the movie is being given a hard R rating. This has been expressed on several occasion ad if you have seen the Red Band trailer it seems accurate. In the comics Deadpool’s sexuality has been ambiguous at best, some times Bi, sometimes hetero and then gay. Marvel writer Gary Duggan has referred to him as omnisexual. It is obvious that the filmmakers are trying to stay pretty true to form with the film. Deadpool opens on February 12th.
