In a “worlds you never thought you’d see collide” story, Quentin Tarantino has reportedly thought up of a new Star Trek story, and he’s pitching to a writing team that J.J. Abrams is putting together. If it comes to fruition, Tarantino would direct with Abrams producing. Tarantino rarely works on projects that are not original ideas of his own, though he did direct episodes of ER and CSI, but those were more of a novelty.
This seems like a pipe dream for a multitude of reasons, the first and foremost being that Paramount isn’t likely going to let an auteur filmmaker like Tarantino, who is used to crafting his own projects, take the reins of their most popular franchise. But hearing Spock drop an F-bong would be pretty great.
