“Spider-Man: Far From Home” Will Wrap Up Phase Three for Marvel

Avengers: End Game is bringing the Avengers saga to a close, and it would seem it would be a perfect place to close out Marvel’s Third Phase and wrap up nearly two decades of storytelling, but that’s not going to be the case. According to Marvel Grand Puba Kevin Feige, the current incarnation of the MCU will come to a close with July’s Spider-Man: Far from Home.

Feige was vague about it when he spoke about it during an event in Shanghai, but this move mirrors the conclusion of Phase Two of the MCU, when Ant-Man, not Avengers: Age of Ultron was the anti-climactic conclusion.

Feige also recently stated that Phase Four, consisting of the Black Widow solo film and the sequels to Doctor Strange and Black Panther, will tie in directly with the slew of new series that will be streaming on Disney +, including Shag-Chi, The Eternals, featuring  Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani, Loki with Tom Hiddleston, a Hawkeye spin-off with Jeremy Renner, and the team up series’ WandaVision, featuring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as the Scarlet Witch and Vision, and The Falcon And The Winter Soldier with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan.  This differs from the previous Marvels series’, like ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Netflix’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, which have had vary degrees of loose connections to the MCU.

Spider-Man: Far from Home opens July 2nd.
