In a recent interview with the German website Filmfutter, director Ridley Scott stated he may be making as many as three sequels to Prometheus, and when asked if they would directly tie in with Alien, he stated (through German translation):
“Yes, but it won’t be in the next one. It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the ‘Alien’ franchise… The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself. I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare. I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.”
But, that changed a bit when he gave an interview with HeyUGuys, when he mentioned that instead of an actual Prometheus 2, the next film is going to be Alien: Paradise Lost. While Prometheus wasn’t quite the Alien prequel we were hoping for, it sounds like the franchise is moving in that direction.
You can see the whole interview below, where he also talks about the progress of the Blade Runner sequel.
