According to Deadline, Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal is in talks to star as Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards in Disney/Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four film.
The schedule is still being finalized, according to insiders, but according to several people familiar with the talks, Pascal will be able to complete this project and his other upcoming ones. Pascal has a full schedule that includes Zach Cregger’s Weapons, his successful HBO series The Last of Us, which is scheduled to film next year, and Gladiator 2, which is anticipated to begin shooting before the end of the year.
The intention is to begin filming early in the upcoming year, so the remaining actors should be joining soon. Director Matt Shakman is presently in pre-production at Pinewood Studios in England. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, will produce.
Reed Richards has been portrayed on film four previous times. Ioan Gruffudd played the character in 2005’s Fantastic Four and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Miles Teller portrayed him in 2015’sFantastic Four reboot film, an alternate universe version of Reed Richards appears in 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, portrayed by John Krasinski, and Richards appears in the unreleased 1994 film The Fantastic Four, portrayed by Alex Hyde-White.
The new Fantastic Four film will mark the first time the superhero team appears in the MCU.
