Deadline has reported that Marvel Studios has cast Orphan Black and Perry Mason star Tatiana Maslany in the titular role in Disney+’s upcoming MCU series She-Hulk. In it she will portray Jennifer Walters, an attorney and cousin of Bruce Banner, who receives the Hulk’s powers after an emergency blood transfusion from Banner. Unlike the Hulk, Walters keeps her intelligence after she transforms. The She-Hulk comic series has a history of being a bit more tongue-in-cheek than the rest of the Marvel Universe, even going as far as breaking the fourth wall to address the readers, and being aware that they are in a comic book, though that aspect has been largely toned down in recent years. The character, created by Stan Lee in 1980, has been a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, the Defenders, Fantastic Force and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Kat Coiro has signed on as a director for the series, with Rick and Morty writer Jessica Gao as the head writer. There is no officially word if Mark Ruffalo will be joining the series (despite early rumors that he would), but he did take to social media to welcome Maslany to the MCU family.
