At a Q&A at this past weekend’s Wizard World Comic Con Chicago, Nathan Fillion was asked which superhero he’d like to play, to which he gave the perfect answer of Booster Gold. Next to Ryan Reyold’s Deadpool, that could be the best casting ever. Fillion played the similarly cocky Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, so we know he could pull it off.
For those that are not familiar, Booster Gold is a time traveler from the future who uses his knowledge of future events to thwart bad guys, and bask in the glory. He eventually becomes an honest superhero, but never shakes his reputation of a glory-seeking showboat.
Fillion is no stranger to comic book films. He’s voiced Green Lantern in animated Justice League movies like Doom and Throne of Atlantis, and he also cameoed in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy as a prison inmate.
Booster Gold is an underrated DC character, who hasn’t had a lot of screen time. He was seen a bit in the Justice League Unlimited animated series, and pretty accurately in an episode of Smallville, but with an actor like Fillion playing the role, he would be perfect for the big screen.
