Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s 26-year-old nephew, will portray the late singer in the Lionsgate biopic directed by Antoine Fuqua. Fuqua recently confirmed the casting on Instagram. The musician is the son of Jermaine Jackson, a member of The Jackson 5 and Michael’s brother. Jaafar has performed original songs as well as songs by Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, and other artists since he was 12 years old.
Fuqua, director of last year’s Emancipation, has signed on to helm Michael, which has a script by John Logan. The movie is being produced by Graham King, who made the critically acclaimed Bohemian Rhapsody.
