Michael Keaton and JK Simmons have both exited Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island. It’s being said that scheduling conflicts are to blame, but let’s hope it’s because both actors came to their senses. This is exactly the kind of film that Academy Award nominated actors are offered after the Oscars. Charlize Theron made Aeon Flux not long after Monster, Kevin Spacey’s next few films after American Beauty, including K-PAX, were clunkers, and Halle Berry famously went from as Oscar win for Monster’s Ball to a Razzie for Catwoman just a few years later.
Michael Keaton and JK Simmons have both proven they are better than popcorn movies at this point. They should both be sinking their teeth into meatier roles. Although, a return to Batman and J. Jonah Jameson would also be welcome.
