Warner Bros. has confirmed they will be producing a Joker origin film starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince. The film’s budget reportedly be around $55 million, which is considerably low for a comic book film. Todd Phillips is directing the film from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver. The studio is describing the film as an “exploration of a man disregarded by society [that] is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.”
This is not to be confused with the recently announced Jared Leto starring “Suicide Squad” spin-off Joker film.
Filming on the Joker origin film will begin in New York this September.
