According to Latino Review, Jena Malone will be playing Barbara Gordon in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s unknown if she will be donning the Batgirl cowl, or if perhaps, as this an established Batman universe, if she will be playing Barbara as the paralyzed Oracle. It’s also possible they are simply establishing the character for future Justice League films. When it was originally announced that Malone was cast, it was rumored he’d be playing the female Dark Knight Returns Robin, Carrie Kelley. Malone is no stranger to Zack Snyder films, having appeared in Suckerpunch.
Barbara Gordon has been portrayed by a few different actresses. Yvonne Craig portrayed her on the 1960’s Batman TV series, and Dina Meyer played her as Oracle in the before-its-time TV show Birds of Prey, not to mention a variety of animated appearances.
We’ll find out exactly which version of Barbara Gordon she’ll be playing when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
