Jeff Daniels will be joining the cast of Apple TV+’s Shrinking in a reoccurring roles as Jimmy’s (Jason Segel) father. He’ll be joining Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell, Christa Miller, and Ted McGinley.
This will be Daniels’ most recent television performance in a number of years. He previously appeared in the limited series “The Comey Rule” and the Showtime (and later Amazon Prime Video) adaptation of “American Rust,” “A Man in Full,” “The Newsroom” (for which he received an Emmy in 2013), “Godless” (for which he received an Emmy in 2018), and “The Looming Tower” are just a few of the television programs in which he has starred. He also starred in movies like “The Squid and the Whale,” “The Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Pleasantville,” “Good Night and Good Luck,” and the two “Dumb & Dumber” films.
Season 2 of “Shrinking” premiered in October and ran through December. Williams and Segel have both been nominated for Emmy Awards for the first season of the sitcom.
Brett Goldstein, Bill Lawrence, and Segel co-created the program. It is produced by Lawrence’s Doozer Productions and Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence and Goldstein have overall deals. Executive producers include Randall Winston, Liza Katzer, Jeff Ingold, Lawrence, Segel, Goldstein, Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Annie Mebane, Rachna Fruchbom, and Brian Gallivan. Bill Posley and Ashley Nicole Black will be executive producers for the third season.
