Jamie Foxx is in early negotiations to star as Detective Edwards in The Jim Henson Company’s adult live action/puppet comedy The Happytime Murders. The official synopsis for the film reads as follows:
Think Who Framed Roger Rabbit? with felt. Brian Henson, son of the late Jim Henson is set to direct the R rated film. Fans of Brian Henson should not be surprised by this move. He headed up the live adult oriented improv show Puppet Up! under the Henson Alternative brand (a branch of The Jim Henson Company), as well as the Off-Broadway puppet-based variety show geared toward adults called Stuffed and Unstrung. Though it was never raunchy, the original Muppets, as well as the current Muppets TV show, has been geared to adults, at least as far as the sophistication of the humor, so this is a natural evolution. While it will be refreshing to see an adult Henson film, it will also be nice to see Foxx return to his comedy roots.
