The UK tabloid rag The Mirror is claiming Homeland star Damien Lewis is set to replace Daniel Craig as the next 007. Craig will be stepping down from the role, and it was previously rumored that Idris Elba might be stepping in as the new Bond. There has been a lot of talk about the role needing a little diversity, as all the previous actors have all been white men, which is no surprise, as the character, as it was written in the novels, is a white male. But diversity is all the rage these days, and to be honest, Elba would make a fine Bond. There has even been talk about switching the gender of the role, and letting a woman take the reins (Angelina Jolie pulled it off nicely in Mr. & Mrs. Smith). In this day and age, anything is possible. People scoffed when Craig was cast, as he is a blonde, but he absolutely kicks as as Bond, so they were wrong about that. But a red head? No amount of diversity will make the world ready for a ginger Bond.
