This could be interesting. Hardcore is billed as “the world’s first action film to be shot 100% from the hero’s perspective,” and was written and directed by Ilya Naishuller, who is the front man for the Russian indie band, Biting Elbows. Naishuller took the same POV style he used in the short film/music video Bad Motherfucker (below), and made a sci-fi/action feature film about “a newly resurrected cyborg who must save his wife/creator from the clutches of a psychotic tyrant with telekinetic powers, and his army of mercenaries.”
Hardcore made it’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this year after being funded via an Indie GoGo campaign. Both the Bad Motherfucker and Hardcore trailer look intense, though we’ll have to wait to see if the POV gimmick gets old, or if it sustains the whole film. The movie stars Sharlto Copley, Haley Bennet, and Danila Kozlovsky.
