If you asked me a week ago if actor George Kennedy was still alive, I would have replied “I don’t think so?,” which would have been followed by a Google search. That likely would have lead to a rabbit hole of YouTube video searches, which would have ended with a Leslie Nielsen video that, in my opinion, is one of the funniest lines in TV or movie history.
I would have been wrong in my assumption that Kennedy was dead, because he just passed away yesterday. The actor, who was probably best known for the Naked Gun films, won an Academy Award for his supporting role in 1967’s Cool Hand Luke opposite Paul Newman. He also worked with other notable actors early in his career, such as Audrey Hepburn and James Stewart.
Kennedy was 91 years old.
