Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman both went to Instagram to share a picture of the duo from the in-production Deadpool 3. The picture shows the pair in their Deadpool and Wolverine costumes, the latter of which is the long-awaited debut of the comics-accurate yellow and blue X-Men costume. There is no word if Jackman will also be sporting Wolverine’s iconic mask, though the classic brown and yellow mask was teased in a deleted scene back in 2013’s The Wolverine.
Production on “Deadpool 3” is currently underway. The movie is being directed by Shawn Levy, who most recently worked with Ryan Reynolds on “Free Guy” and the blockbuster Netflix feature “The Adam Project.” Although nothing is known about the movie’s narrative, it obviously incorporates the multiverse because Deadpool is the first Fox-produced character to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Returning actors Morena Baccarin and Brianna Hildebrand, as well as newcomers Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen, will appear in “Deadpool 3” alongside Jackman and Reynolds. Additionally, Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra from Ben Affleck’s 2003 film “Daredevil” and her own spinoff film from 2005, returning to the role after an almost 20-year absence.
Jackman is returning to the role of Wolverine after saying good bye to him in 2017’s critically acclaimed Logan.Jackman had stated he was hanging up the claws after that film, though the idea of costarring as the character along side his friend Reynolds seemed too much to pass up.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled for release May 3, 2024.
