Warner Bros. has released an announcement video stating that the first trailer for the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Then, will debut on December 15th. As the film is still in production, and the film isn’t scheduled to released until November 18th 2016, it will likely only be a teaser trailer.
Here is the official synopsis of the film:
“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
The film, written by Potter author J.K. Rowling herself, stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove, and Colin Farrell.
By the way, just how far is this whole “trailer to announce a trailer” thing going to go? We’re going to start getting a meme announce of a gif, which will announce a Vine video, which will hint at a live Periscope announcement, which will mention an upcoming Tweet, that will tease a Facebook status, that will show a YouTube video announcing a possible announcement video for a teaser trailer for a film that hasn’t started production yet. Just knock it off and release the friggin’ trailer. Of course, we’re over here reporting on it, so color us hypocritical.
