Disney is making some changes to its release calendar. A new “Star Wars” film and a live-action “Moana” adaption have been added to Disney’s release schedule, and the upcoming three “Avatar” films have been postponed by a year. The fifth journey to Pandora will be published in 2031 if this trend continues. For those who are interested in the math, that is in eight years.
Highlights of the renovation include: Live-action “Moana” will debut on June 27, 2025; “Deadpool 3” will debut on May 3, 2024; “Star Wars” untitled movie will debut on December 18, 2026; “Avatar 3” has been pushed back to December 19, 2025; “Avatar 4” to December 21, 2029; and “Avatar 5” to December 19, 2031.
Massive modifications to Marvel are among the additional alterations. “Captain America: Brave New World” is being postponed from May 3, 2024, to July 26, 2024, which also pushes back “Thunderbolts,” “Blade,” and “Fantastic Four” to December 20, 2024, February 14, 2025, and May 2, 2025, respectively. The release date of “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” has been postponed from May 2, 2025, to May 1, 2026. It will replace “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which will air on May 7th, 2027 instead of May 1st, 2026.
Two films based on a galaxy far, far away will be released in 2026 as a result of the addition of a “Star Wars” movie in December. The release date of a different “Star Wars” film was moved from December 19, 2025, to May 22, 2026. On December 17, 2027, a new “Star Wars” movie will be released. Disney hasn’t elaborated on the plots of any of those episodes.
