The Batplot thickens, as director Matt Reeves has stated on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused Podcast that he will not be working with the Batman script that Ben Affleck, Chris Terrio and DC’s Geoff Johns had worked on. Reeves, who is out promoting War for the Planet of the Apes, had this to say:
“No, it’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool.”
It was reported that Reeves wants to do more of a film noir take on the Dark Knight, concentrating on the “World’s Greatest Detective” aspect of the character, which we have not seen on film yet. One would imagine the conversation with Affleck was a bit awkward, as Affleck, who was originally slated to direct, will still be starring in the film. He will also be appearing at the San Diego Comic Con next weekend, so expect the subject to come up.
