I don’t know about you all but we are totally excited for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s new film, The Revenant. The film tells the true story of a man, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, who is left for dead deep in the wilderness. It is a story of survival and revenge. Apparently the film itself was almost as difficult on the cast and crew as it was for the characters in the film. DiCaprio’s character is put through a gauntlet of trials trying to survive alone in the wilderness while hunting down the men who left him to die. And recently the Drudge Report got a rumor started that his character is raped by a bear. This seemed a little far fetched, but considering many people have complained about the extensive violence in the film, maybe it was plausible enough to churn through the mill. However a spokesperson from 20th Century recently told Entertainment Weekly:
As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs. There is clearly no rape scene with a bear.
Bummer. I mean sure it may not be fitting for this movie, but who wouldn’t want to see that? I think this is straight up Kickstarter material. Just how much does one need to raise to make a video of Leonardo DiCaprio getting sexually assaulted by a bear?
If you haven’t yet, check out the the film’s trailer below. It’s already starting to generate serious Oscar buzz and bear rape or no, we’ll be at our local cineplex when this one opens in wide release early January.
