That’s right folks Matt Murdoch and the crew are returning for another season! The second season of Daredevil is a go, and I can hear fan boy boners a-popin’ all over the world. Season one was binged on so heavily that it bogged down Netflix servers and the company took note and quickly renewed a second season of the first of four Marvel netflix shows. The new season will see new captains as Steven DeKnight exits, and Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez will now serve as showrunners. Drew Goddard who was the original showrunner for season one before DeKnight took over will again executive produce. AKA Jessica Jones is already filming and Luke Cage and Iron Fist are also planned to hit Netflix over the next few years all to culminate in a Defenders mini-series.
No word on who will return and who will be added to the cast, but if it is anything like season one no one will care, cause it was just plain awesomeness!!!! Marvel has found a home for some of its grittier heroes and Daredevil couldn’t have been better. Redemption has been had for the 2003 Ben Affleck debacle. If you haven’t had the chance to watch the first season, then fire up your systems and log in to netflix to see what all the buzz is about, you won’t be disappointed (well except when the final episode is over and there is only the wait for season two!).
The series scored a 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and proved that a darker, harsher edge to the Marvel cinematic universe has its place. Having reaquired the rights to several of its properties Marvel could roll out a few other “darker” heroes… Punisher and Moon Knight please!!!!! Let’s face it a platform like Netflix is perfect for this type of property!
