Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated time-bendy thriller “Tenet” has been delayed indefinitely. Originally scheduled for a July 17 release, the film was pushed back to Aug. 12, but now has no concrete release date. “We will share a new 2020 release date imminently for Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s wholly original and mind-blowing feature,” said Warner Bros. chairman Toby Emmerich in a statement. “We are not treating Tenet like a traditional global day-and-date release, and our upcoming marketing and distribution plans will reflect that.”
Warner Bros. had previously also pushed back the release of “Wonder Woman 1984” to Oct. 2, Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” remake to Dec. 18, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical “In the Heights” rto June 18, 2021 and “The Batman” with Robert Pattinson to June 25, 2021. So far, those films are keeping their most recently announced release dates. With international markets opening up, it’s possible “Tenet” may see an overseas release long before a domestic release.
