The long awaited sequel to the 1982 classic sci fi film Blade Runner has finally gotten a name: Blade Runner 2049. The film, which takes place thirty years after the original, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Ridley Scott acting as producer. Hampton Fancher, who adapted Philip K. Dick’s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? into the original Blade Runner screenplay, has also written the sequel, along with Alien: Covenant writer Michael Green.
Blade Runner 2049, which stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Lennie James, and Barkhad Abdi, is scheduled to open October 6th, 2017.
