The original Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford was released back in 1982. On its release it wasn’t particularly successful, but it has certainly become a staple in the genre and garnered much acclaim since. It was officially announced a little over a year ago that we would see a sequel in the not too distant future. Although it would not be directed by Scott it will still have Ford reprising his role as Deckard and will costar Ryan Gosling, with Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, Sicario) to direct.
Ridley Scott is still producing and production is set to begin in July. Alcorn Entertainment set its release date as January 12, 2018. Everything is in line here to make a great Sci-Fi film solid cast and a seriously talented director behind the lens with Scott producing, the question is what is up with a January release date? This is generally not a good sign as most studios use January and February as a dumping ground for film. But they just gave us Deadpool and that movie isn’t just awesome it’s crushing at the box office, so keep your fingers crossed.
