Disney announced that the next Avengers, Avengers Infinity War, will no longer be split into two films, but rather will become a stand alone film. A fourth Avengers film is still scheduled, however, though no details about what it will be about have been released. Directors Joe and Anthony hinted at the change in an interview with Uproxx back in May. This is what Joe had to say about it back then:
“The movies are two very different movies. The intention is we will change it, we just haven’t come up with the titles yet. But, yes, we will change it.”
Infinity War is being hyped as the mother of all comic book movies, so how they plan on cramming it into one film might prove to be tricky. Avengers: Infinity War will still be released on May 4, 2018 as planned, with the second film, tentatively titled Avengers Untitled, is still planned for a May 3, 2019 release.
