According to Variety, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will not be using the services of the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers for next year’s Oscar telecast as a result of the “you had one job” blunder at this year’s ceremony. PwC partner Brian Cullinan (seen above fanboy Tweeting backstage rather than actually doing his job) presented Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway a duplicate of the best actress envelope, stating that Emma Stone had won for La La Land, instead of the one announcing that Moonlight had won best picture.
The Academy is considering dropping the accounting firm all together, and finding another non profit firm to handle their finances, and in turn, the Oscar’s. In one shot, PricewaterhouseCooper has gone from an accounting juggernaut to a firm that can’t be trusted to hand someone an envelope.
